R.C. Moore Recognized for Top Tier in Fuel Efficiency by U.S. EPA SmartWay Transport Partnership

R.C. Moore has been recognized for ranking in the Top Tier of Carbon Efficiency in the SmartWay® Partner Category for 2013 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay® Transport Partnership program. The SmartWay® Transport Partnership is an innovative collaboration between U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and industry which provides a framework to assess the environmental and energy efficiency of goods movement supply chains.

Since joining as a Transport Partner in 2010, R.C. Moore, Inc. has contributed to the Partnership’s savings of 120.7 million barrels of oil and $16.8 billion in fuel costs. 51.6 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2), 738,000 tons of oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and 37,000 tons of particulate matter have been eliminated, the equivalent of taking 10 million cars off the road for an entire year.  Carbon dioxide is the most common greenhouse gas, and nitrogen oxide is an air pollutant that contributes to smog.  By leading as a Top Tier Partner in the SmartWay® Transport Partnership, R.C. Moore, Inc continues to demonstrate its strong environmental leadership and corporate responsibility.

Developed jointly in early 2003 by EPA and Charter Partners represented by industry stakeholders, environmental groups, American Trucking Associations and Business for Social Responsibility, this innovative program was launched in 2004. Partners rely upon SmartWay tools and approaches to track and reduce emissions and fuel use from goods movement.
The Partnership currently has over 3000 Partners.
